Default view and edit data source

My company recently got Office 2003. In the previous version of Word, I was
able to view the data source when merging documents by going into the main
document and clicking a button. Now it looks as though in order to view and
edit the data source, you have to go into it by clicking the Open Data Source
button and browsing to it. I work in a large company and don't want our
users to have to do that. Is there a simple way to locate and edit the data
source, similar to how it was done in Word 2000? Thanks!
