You don't "download" it. The term "download" means to get files from an
external computer, usually on the Internet.

What you mean is "How do I OPEN it in Word".

Have you actually tried File-Open in Word?
You may need to copy the file from the CD to your HDD.

To add to what Gordon said, PLEASE, for the sake of your sanity, copy
the file to your hard drive, and edit that copy. That way, when the
(almost-)inevitable foul-up happens, you still have the original for
another try. Also, Word has been known to have problems with files not
on the hard drive...

If it's on a CDR the OP won't be ABLE to edit it on the CD anyway!

Using Windows Explorer, copy the book file(s) from the CD to My Documents
(or some other Word document folder). If the book was created in Word, then
you can just open it as you would any other Word document. If it was created
in some other application, Word may have converters for this app. If not,
you can try using the "Recover Text from Any File" setting in the File Open
dialog, but results may be disappointing depending on how much you have in
the book that is not plain text.

I don't think anyone explicitly mentioned that files copied from a CDROM are
Read Only.
You can select all the copied files on the hard drive, right click on the
selection and choose Properties. Then uncheck the Read Only checkbox to
allow them to be edited and resaved...
