Default captioning and applying heading style

hi all,

xp pro sp2, office 2003 pro sp2.

i think i am seeking more of a reassurance than anything else.

i am creating a document, which at some point later (towards the end of the
writing up the document), i will generate a table of content (TOC). i have
created a new caption label called 'Appendix'. i then insert - caption -
Appendix followed by application of heading 1 style onto the inserted
Appendix 1 so that when i generate the TOC the appendices would appear on the
TOC page.

i just need a reassurance that what i did was correct (but of course i would
value any other suggestion(s)) and that what i did, the way i have done it,
would not pose a problem subsequently.

thank you in advance.

seems to be ok but since i am asking for advice and the experts have given me
the advice, i am going to follow the advice rather than being sorry later...
