I am merging to an excel spreadsheet that has dates for reports
arriving here by project. I have several merge documents that I create
and distribute listing what has arrived each day by several different
criteria including todays date. Is there a way using a macro to update
the "Compare to" (tools-mail merge-merge-Filter Records-Compare to) to
the current date. I usually have 3 or 4 and or choices that "Compare
to" whatever is Todays Date.

It always helps to mention which version of Word is involved. Especially
with mail merge, that changed radically a few years ago. Is this 2000 or
97?

In any case, there's no way to set "today" in the user interface. You
could probably use macro code to change the underlying query the UI
generates. But if you have other criteria you'd need to set all of them
at the same time. Not impossible, but we'd need more information to show
you how to do it (including some field names and sample values).
