hey folks
using word 2003 writing a paper and my footnotes keep jumping onto the next
page when i dont want them to. looked at related postings but cant seem to
fix the problem. would anyone be able to give me step by step instructions on
what to do to stop this happening? cheers!

This is usually related to widows and orphan control (Format | Paragraph |
Line and Page Breaks). Word will avoid a paragraph breaking with only one
line of the paragraph at the bottom of the page. By moving the footnote to
the next page Word then has room for two lines of the paragraph. If you
insert your own page breaks the footnote will revert back to the previous
page.
