Default Table of Contents from Header

I am trying to have the TOC generated from information in section headers.
It does not seem to recognize either formating of TC fields in headers. Any
hope?

"Headers" are not on any particular page and so cannot be shown in a table
of contents.
"Headings" can be.

See http://addbalance.com/usersguide/complex_documents.htm for directions on
setting up a Table of Contents.

Make sure you are not using manual page breaks to separate your sections.
You page break before formatting in your styles instead.

Are you saying then that we should only use the heading in styles numbered 1,
2 or 3 to create the TOC even if the headings in styles are in sections
(which are types of breaks)? Is this true? If not please explain how to
create a TOC from the heading sections? Debbie 226
