When I merge data the output has a strange icon next to it--why?
I created labels and merged data from an Xcel file (mailing addresses of over
200 clients). In the output document the Street field data has a cross icon at the end of every line. The Street field in the Xcel data source is a formula based on info from other cells. Does this have something to do with it? |

Hi ?B?dGVk?=,
I created labels and merged data from an Xcel file (mailing addresses of over 200 clients). In the output document the Street field data has a cross icon at the end of every line. The Street field in the Xcel data source is a formula based on info from other cells. Does this have something to do with it? this isn't ringing ANY bells with me; I've never seen anything like this, nor reports of such a thing - and I've been supporting Word mail merge for almost 15 years. Which version of Word/Office is this? Could you show me the formula in Excel that's creating the Street field's content? By "cross icon" do you mean a graphical symbol of some sort? The letter X? The + sign? Something else? The version is MSFT Word X for Mac.
The formula is PROPER. (This changes the text of a cell from all caps to the first letter Cap and the rest of each word in lower case.) The cross icon is a graphic symbol that looks like sort of like a t but with a longer vertical line: 416 Central Ave€* I solved it by using the replace command in Word, and replacing the cross with a space.
