Default Top and bottom page margins not displaying

I don't now how it happened but suddenly every new
document that I create does not have the top and bottom
page margins displayed. To get them back I have to click
on 'View Header/Footer' and then close it.

I checked my normal.dot template and it comes up ok.
I also checked through the Options menu and could see no
obvious setting that would cause this.

Any ideas how to get back the margins.

Thanks,
Seamus

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | check the "White space
between pages" box | OK.

This setting is checked in normal.dot yet all new documents
have it unchecked. I am of course assuming that new
documents are using the normal.dot in the 'normal' folder
c:\sett..\app..\microsoft\templates which is the location
given for the User Templates in the File Locations tab
under Options.

This is an Options setting; it is stored in the Registry, not in Normal.dot.

How right you are. When I started Word again it was ok.

Thanks,
Seamus
