Default Bullets & Numbering question

Every time I select a numbering option (if I have highlighted the text), word
automatically formats it differently than what I selected meaning I have to
go back and move the margins, and/or decrease indent.

Has anyone had this before and why does it do this and can I fix it.

Thanks,
SHona

Default Bullets & Numbering question

This is by design in recent versions of Word. If you don't want numbered
paragraphs indented, apply the List Number style instead of using the
Numbering button (this is a better idea for a number of reasons, anyway).

Default Bullets & Numbering question

But I need the numbered paragraphs indented in a list type fashion. Is there
is any way to correct the default numbering to be the 1, 2, 3 choice. I have
chosen that as a default, but it continues to chose whatever it wants when I
select the second choice under the numbering tab.

Thanks,
Shona

It sounds as if you are trying to use outline numbering. If that is the
case, see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numb...Numbering.html
and follow the instructions carefully. There really is no way to use
numbering reliably unless it is linked to styles.
