Default Margins in outline view

When I switch from print layout view in Word 2003 to outline view, I get much
wider blank margins, especially on the right side. Changing the view/zoom
settings only affects this by greatly enlarging the type. Is there a way to
have narrow margins and normal type in outline view, and/or to control the
view in outline view better.

And in web view the same text scrawls off the screen to the right?

thanks.

Outline view & Normal/Draft view simply are not designed nor intended to
give the impression of a "physical page" the way Print Layout/Page Layout
view presents the content. The text is still constrained to the printable
space between the margins, however. The amount of space you see on the right
depends on the width of the window & has nothing to do with margin settings.

Web Layout view is similar because a web page has no margins... The flow of
the text needs to be controlled by line breaks, the use of tables or other
elements of web design.

OK, but is there any way to change the look and spacing of outline view?

Your two options for Outline view (aside from how many levels you display)
are with or without formatting.
