Default formating form controls

Hi

This seems to be a problem many people must face but I haven't found it
mentioned in the posts so here goes. I have a normal form with text controls
in it. I want to highlight the controls by bolding the text in them. I would
think I can format the document around the control or perhaps the control
itself but this doen't seem to work. Occasionally I fiddle and I manage to
change the formatting but I can't figure out what I've done and can't
recreate it.

Can someone tell me how I can format (particularly bold) a text control and
leave the surrounding text plain??

TIA

If you mean Text Form Fields - and unless I'm missing something - it should
just be a matter of selecting the control & clicking the Bold button.

Default formating form controls

Hi Bob

I would've thought so but that is not the case. I don't seem to have any
formatting control over the controls. I'm useing Word 2003 on XP - any
suggestions?

Hello Ian -

Are you trying to modify the Form (template) or a document created *from*
the template?

If the latter, that might explain why you're unable to change the
formatting. Formatting allowance would have to be provided in the template
file on which the doc is based. If protection has been used in the template
you can't apply formatting in the docs it creates.

Likewise, if you are editing the template, itself, but the 'Lock' icon on
the Forms Toolbar is ON or the template is protected you can't change the
formatting of the control (or anything else for that matter). You'd need to
UnLock the form, then make your changes.

Hi Bob

Just to clarify, the document is not saved as a *template* it is just a
document with form fields in it but I think I take your meaning. It is
unprotected when I'm making the changes. Curiously if I slsect on a form text
control and click the *Bold* button on the toolbar the bold button toggle
position is on but it still displays unbolded text. Maybe I got a dud?

Cheers

Ian
