Default Style Area Displays Different than Applied Style

I have applied a list style to a paragraph in a document, but the Style Area
Width says that Normal is applied to it. Why is that?

Default Style Area Displays Different than Applied Style

List styles are applied on top of paragraph styles; they are not paragraph
styles in themselves.
