Default style formats

I have the same question - using Word 2000. At the Format menu, under Style,
it has a selection to 'List' either Styles in Use, All Styles, User Defined
Styles. I select "All Styles", but the drop down option is no different than
it was before. It seems like everytime I do one of the updates, things change
(for the worse) like this. How to REALLY list all styles in the drop down?
Thank you.

What version of Word are you using? In Word 2002 or later, show the Styles
and Formatting Task Pane.
There should be an option for Show:
Pick the Custom Option and alter it as necessary.
In Word 2000, I seem to recall there is a similar Show: option, but it is
located in the Format Menu in the Styles Choice.

How do I remove selections from the style drop down list within the format
toolbar. I want to limit what the user sees and can select within a
template. I don't know where that list is configured.

In Word 2000 and earlier, the Style dropdown always displays "Styles in
use." The setting in the Styles dialog is for that dialog only.
