I accidentally removed the Font menu (from Format Font) using the
"Customize Remove Menu" shortcut ( CTRL+ALT+- ) while I was trying to
work-out the shortcut for subscript on this German keyboard...
How do I get it back so I can access the Font options window again?

In the Customize Toolbars panel, there's a "Reset" button. Or, if
you've got lots of customizations, you could go to the Format list of
menu commands and find the missing one and add it, or (maybe easier to
use!) the "All Commands" list, where at least you know you're not
looking in the wrong place.
