conversion of picture files
I mistakenly saved photographs in MY DOCUMENTS instead of MY PICTURES. Now
when I try to see the photos all I get is squares etc (gobledegook) not photos. A box comes up stating I can choose a conversion of text - I am unable to display my photos by choosing any of the choices there. Is there a way to transfer or move my document file over to the MY PiCTURES area? Any other way of easily doing this? |

You've got me puzzled. At what point do you see gobbledygook? Have you
inserted pictures into a document? Or are you trying to view a picture using Word? If you're in Word, and you use the Open command to try to look at a picture, you will get gobbledygook, no matter what directory it is in. Putting it in My Documents won't make any difference. If you've inserted the pictures as hyperlinks, you just need to make sure the hyperlink goes to the right directory. What version of Word are you using? It doesn't really matter *where* you've saved them. It sounds like your
associations got messed up. Since you said "My Documents" and "My Pictures", I will assume you have Windows XP. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307859 -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "BC LOU" BC wrote in message ... This won't happen unless you're trying to open the documents through Word.
Provided your file associations are still correct (that is, the application selected for opening .jpg, .png, .gif, and other graphics formats is still the same), you should still be able to double-click the files in My Computer/Windows Explorer and open them; you just can't do the same in Word's File Open window. I frequently save graphic files in document folders if they're to be used only in specific documents. But you can't *open* the files with Word; if you want to use the pictures in Word documents, you still have to use Insert | Picture and browse to the folder where the picture is. -- Suzanne S.
