Okay, when i first read this it didn't make any sense. Then I figured it out.
So to make it extremely clear: This is for Microsoft Office Word 2003.

On your menu bar:
Go to €œTools€�
Click €œAutoCorrect Options€¦€�
click on the tab that reads "AutoFormat As You Type"
Check the box at the bottom that says "Set left- and first-indent with tabs
and backspaces€�€¦
thats all

option called "Tabs and backspace set left indent". Leaving this checked
will cause the annoying behavior you describe.

Word 2003) I must click on the Increase Indent icon to have this happen.
