Headers and Footers greyed out
I've created a letterhead openable in all users computers (read: old systems)
and protected the document from changes to the header and footer. They can create a letter anywhere within the main body. Print preview and printed versions show header in colour. Problem is: how do I get the header and footer to appear "ungreyed" when they open it to create a letter, yet still protected from them changing the header or footer at all? I have to keep this beyond simple for all the users of computers that don't get macros or complex instructions. I need them to be able to open it and use it, no adjustments necessary. Then, they need to be able to print it or send it via email, but again, have the recipient view the page as intended, full colour, and not with the header and footer greyed out. I myself have as yet to figure out macros. I've tried the template way of creating a letterhead and that totally confused everyone and they couldn't open it in their systems. Had to eventually rename the file that opens with the template file and send them that one. Clicked all the right buttons for compatibility with 97-2003, still they can't open a template document. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? Thanks. |

Headers and Footers greyed out
When your cursor is in the text of the document -- the body of the
letter -- the header and footer are grayed out, and vice versa (when your cursor is in the header or footer, then the text is grayed out). If they send the recipient a Word file of the letter, then it will look like a Word file when the recipient opens it. What you want them to send to the recipient is a pdf of the document, which will look just like a document printed on paper.
