Default Default window for Save As

Is there a way to set a default window to appear for Save As? I am used to
filing documents in my own subdirectories and have never understood the My
Documents and Owner folders. I'd like to make the Save As command show the C
drive with all subdirectories and go from there.

Tools, Options, File Locations tab and change the location for Documents
setting.

I changed it to C:/, but it seems to open in the last subdirectory I used.

Yes, the folder you assign is just the one that Word starts in. After that,
it defaults to the last-used folder (except for existing documents when you
use Save As, in which case it will default to the folder in which the
document is stored).
