Default Disabled "Insert Autotext" button

When I go to view Headers and Footers the associated toolbar appears, however
the "Insert Autotext" button is greyed out. How can I activate it?

There are no entries defined in the header footer style - this is usually
(though not always) caused by saving a document as normal.dot. Rename
normal.dot to oldnormal.dot and restart Word.
