I have a very large document that contains both merge fields and form fields.
Is there a way to merge the document and keep the form fields? I have been
merging to a new document, is there anything I can do?

Unfortunately you can't keep form fields in the merged document.

Perhaps if you told us more about what you are trying to accomplish we
can provide some alternate suggestions.
