can i paste an excel worksheet into word and then rotate the item
As an alternative to Doug's suggestion... Assuming that you aren't actually
Linking to the Excel file or have a need to edit the result in Word; In Office 2003: Option 1: Select the content in Excel, hold Shift while opening the Edit menu & select Copy Picture, then paste into the Word document, or Option 2: Copy the Excel content then in the Word document use Edit Paste Special Picture (Enhanced Metafile). In Office 2007: Option 1: Select the Excel content then click the bottom part of the Paste button, point to 'As Picture' & select 'Copy as Picture'. Choose the appropriate options in the small dialog (the default settings should be fine), click OK then Paste into the Word document, or Option 2: Do as in Option 2 above but in Word click the bottom part of the Paste button to select the Paste Special command. Either will give you a graphic which can then be rotated.
