Default Insert Equal Size Text Boxes or alternatives

I have to create a document with 18 'text' boxes containing a
photograph and brief details. I need to be able to move the boxes
easily to keep these in alphabetical order when I need to add one.

I have tried using a table but it's not easy to work with.

In what way is a table not easy to work with? It certainly should be
easy to sort.

I have just read about forms I have never used this function,do you
think that this would work in this scenario?

No, it wouldn't work at all. A form is protected, which means you
couldn't insert pictures OR change the order.

Thank for you reply - In one cell I enter a name and then the year
group, (Y3B Y3M Y4J etc) on line one, then a picture on 'line 2' and
then the medical details on line three.

I have to keep them in year order (i.e. Y3, Y4)but I can't choose that
as a sort option as it is on the same line as the name.
