Add hyperlink/bookmark to each page --- PDF
Windows Vista/Word 2007/"Add PDF" Word Add-on
Got an 87 page document with a Table of Contents I'm converting to PDF -- external links work, bookmarks work -- so far so good. At the bottom of each page, I want a hyperlink/bookmark "Table of Contents" that simply takes you to the Table of Contents. I tried using the Footer, but the link is not 'hot' when you convert the doc to PDF. Is there a way to put a link at the bottom of each page without using the Footer? Or am I missing something about the Footer? Thanks. James |

Add hyperlink/bookmark to each page --- PDF
You are correct in the assumption that links in Headers/Footers do not remain
when converted to PDF. You can have a bookmark crossreference in a Frame which can then be placed "above" the Footer area. This will remain after conversion. Unfortuantely you will have to paste and move a copy of this Frame on each page manually. No a brilliant solution. Maybe instead why not save the PDF with the inital view being "Bookmarks Panel and Page" so the user will autoamtically see the section headings along side the pages and can navigate with this. You can control the Bookmark generation in the Chaneg Convertion Settings before creating the PDF so you get exactly what you want the user to see. Hope this helps DeanH "James Ivey" wrote: Windows Vista/Word 2007/"Add PDF" Word Add-on Got an 87 page document with a Table of Contents I'm converting to PDF -- external links work, bookmarks work -- so far so good. A hyperlink in a header/footer will not work in a Word document either,
unless you open the header view, and you don't have that option in PDF. You would have to put it on each page, perhaps in a frame placed over the footer area. Depending on how your document is laid out you *may* be able to copy the frame to the clipboard and use replace to place the clipboard content. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org James Ivey wrote: Windows Vista/Word 2007/"Add PDF" Word Add-on Got an 87 page document with a Table of Contents I'm converting to PDF -- external links work, bookmarks work -- so far so good. To add to Graham's reply - it isn't necessary to hyperlink to the ToC in
Word because Word has a built in GoToTableofContents command. Just assign it a shortcut (say Alt+T) and add it to the QAT. Unfortunately, it is even more useless for PDF though! -- Terry Farrell - MSWord MVP "James Ivey" wrote in message ... Thanks for your reply.
I went ahead and just put it on each page. Tedious, but it's done. Thanks again. James "Graham Mayor" wrote in message ... Add hyperlink/bookmark to each page --- PDF
There seem to have been lots of messages delayed over the last few days,
which makes some of the responses seem a tad bizarre. Let's hope the system has been fixed. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Terry Farrell wrote: I wonder where this was for 5 days!
