Separate formats btwn separate sections??
How can I define separate formats btwn. separate sections?
For example, I am defining section 1 as a title page and would like to have different margins and no header/footer on this page. On page 2, I have defined the start of section 2 and would like a header/footer here. When I remove the header/footer from page 1 (section 1), it affects the entire document. I tried to keep the footer there, but remove the page no and date in section 1, but this still affects the entire document. Any help would be appreciated. hj |

When you set properties use File Page Setup you can specify whether those
apply to the entire document, the current section, or the current point forward: this is how to set the margins differently by sections. For the headers and footers, the trick you're missing is the 'Same as Previous' button on the Headers and Footers toolbar. By default, each section in the document inherits the headers and footers from the previous section. However, clearing the 'Same as previous' button breaks the chain, so to speak. Note that this is handled independently for header and footer (and each of them if they are different odd/even). So: go to section 2, open the footer, clear 'Same as previous', format the footer as you want it for section 2 onwards. Then go to section 1 and delete the footer. Ditto for header.
