Default How do I turn Style Gallery totally OFF?

I know the Word style gallery processing tooka lot of effort, blah
blah, and it's very useful for Joe Public, blah blah, but some of us
find it a hindrance not a help! Is there any way to turn the
blithering off permanently in one fell swoop? Thanks (and sorry MS).

Are you speaking of the Automatic fomatting options where new styles are
created automatically as you type and format? If so, you can turn this off
by going to Tools |Autocorrect Options | Autoformat as you type tab|
Automatically as you type section | Uncheck the Define styles based on your
formatting checkbox.

You can alsoGo to Tools | Options | Edit tab and uncheck the Keep track of
formatting checkbox.

I hope this helps. If not, please repost with more information.
