See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm, in the section "Custom spelling dictionaries". Copy the document from the old computer and drop it in the same folder on the new computer. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Unless you renamed it, your custom dictionary is named custom.dic. It's
location can be found in the dialog box at: Tools Options Spelling and Grammar (tab) Dictionaries New See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. How do I move my custom Word dictionary to another computer?
Jay,
I need this infomation too. But I'm using Word 2007 and your suggested link pertains to an older version of Word. How does one get to Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar in the new GUI in Word 2007? paul "Jay Freedman" wrote: Trantor wrote: I am trying to move my custom Word dictionary to a new computer so I will not have to retrain Word on my new laptop. Thank you Charles and Suzanne. The answer I was seeking was that the
Tools/Options functon in Word 2007 is now located at the bottom of the Office Button page. Paul "Charles Kenyon" wrote: Unless you renamed it, your custom dictionary is named custom.dic.
