Default Fonts change in a document

When I use a particular font (Arial) in my document and I e-mail it someone
else, this person gets it in a different font and all the formatting is lost.
Any idea why this happens?

Thank you

The only way to ensure that someone gets a document exactly as you intend it
to be is to create a .pdf file and send that.
