unaccountable table format changes
I'm wrinting a joint paper in which I have used tables to make sure that in
certain places two lines of text are exactly algined. In my version of the paper (Word 2007, but saved as .doc), things look okay most of the time, but when my colleague opens the document on his computer, the table size has changed. So instead of puna-pito boat-person it comes out like puna-pito boat- person I.e what I have written on one line gets spread across 2 lines. Why? And how do I prevent this? |

Your colleague probably has a different printer set as the active printer.
Word is displaying the document as it will be printed by the active printer. -- Hope this helps. Thanks for the suggestion, but I use Times New Roman, so I'm fairly sure his

That could well be, but the way in which Word lays out the document is
dependent upon (and can thus differ between computers) the printer and printer drive that is installed for the printer that is active. -- Hope this helps. Thanks, Doug. My previous message was directed at Peter's suggestion that my
colleague didn't have the font I was using. As for your suggestion, given that my colleague and I are in different locations and therefore don't use the same printer, is there any way for us to avoid this issue. I guess it means we would have to use identical printer settings, but how do we achieve that? You can "install" a printer without actually having that printer. It is
done via the Add Printer facility that is available in the dialog that appears when you click on Printers and Faxes in the Start menu. -- Hope this helps.
