I think that is what the OP is trying to do, but additional section breaks
are being inserted, probably without a new page, by attempts to make it from this point forward. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. The idea of "Different first page" is to allow you to have one watermark or logo or chunk of text or whatever on the first page and a different one on *all* the remaining pages. For a letter, this would be the expected thing: you have a letterhead on the first page and then a "second sheet" letterhead (or just a page number or whatever) on the remaining sheets. What exactly is it that you are trying to do? -- Suzanne S. "LisaLev" wrote in message ... Different first page is selected, and that works for page 2. Then I'm typing along - type, type, type, and page 3 comes, and there's the watermark again. So at the end of page 2, I have to go to File, page setup, Layout, make sure that new Page is selected, and then click on "from this point forward" in Apply To. The watermark on the next page disappears, but then it pops up again when I get to the next page. It works, but is a pain in the butt. Since our letterhead is a full-page graphic, top and bottom, I've asked our marketing director to split it up so that I can put them in the header/footer. "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: Although this can be done using Format | Background | Printed Watermark, it would be much easier to do manually. Regardless of how you do it, you'll need to enable the "Different first page" setting to get a First Page Header; easiest thing from there is just to insert the picture in the First Page Header, set to Behind Text wrapping. "LisaLev" wrote in message news We're using Word 2003. I did format, background, printed watermark, and inserted a jpg picture. The "picture" is our letterhead - a band at the top and bottom. "CyberTaz" wrote: Hi Lisa- This is not difficult to do, but may vary a little depending on which version of Word & how the watermark was actually created. Please post back with more details |:) "LisaLev" wrote: How do I print a watermark (picture) on just the first page of my document? The margins also change for the second page on. Word gives me the option to either have it or not, doesn't give me a choice as to what pages I want it on. |
