Default Word 2003 - opening & saving files from the network drive very slo

Word 2003 (it dose not concerns Excel and Power Point files)
If I work with *.doc files saved on local HDD it's OK, but opening and
saving files on the network drive sometimes takes minutes.

Network is based on Windows 2000 Server
I work on Win XP & Office 2003

Hi Mark:

You may have an OLD network driver installed. If so, it is not correctly
returning the "File not found" error when Word goes looking on the network
for a printer or a template that is not there.

This produces a very characteristic lengthy delay in opening network files.

Update the network driver if you can and the problem should be resolved.
