Default Automatically add Footers to all documents in a folder

I don't think this is possible, but someone out there might know of a way.

In Word 2007, is it possible to add a footer w/filename to an entire folder
of documents without having to open each document and add the quickpart?

Hi Kim,

No, you can't do that without opening, updating & saving each file. The process could be automated with a macro, however.

While you could add a footer to a folder full of documents, by macro, to do
so without some idea of what the documents contained and on documents of a
diverse nature is fraught with danger. Documents can contain multiple
footers some or all of which may already have content. Which footer would
you want the filename to appear in? It might be safer not to put the
filename in the footer, but to put it at the end of the document.
