Default Word 2003--Track Changes

I received a document that has "Track Changes" turned off, but when I make
any edits to the document it tracks my changes. How do I stop this? I tried
copying and pasting the document into a new document, saved it, reopened it,
and it is still tracking my changes even though "Track Changes" is turned
off. Please help!!

Are you sure that it's turned off -- no TRK in the bar at the bottom,
and the rightmost icon on the Reviewing toolbar isn't bright -- or is
it just set initially to not show the changes? (The window on the
Reviewing toolbar would show "Final" or "Original".)

To turn it off for real, click that icon in the toolbar; or double-
click the bold TRK at the bottom; or type Ctrl-Shift-e.

Thank you for your quick response. There is no TRK in the bar at the bottom,
and the icon on the Reviewing toolbar is not bright. I changed the window on
the Reviewing toolbar to show "Final," saved it, closed it, and then reopened
it and no TRK and icon not bright but the window changed back to "Final
Showing Markup," and it is still tracking the changes. I also did the above
with "Original," same results.

If you do Accept All Changes, does it accept all the changes?

We accepted the changes one by one, turned off track changes, "Final," saved,
re-opened, track changes still on.

Did you Accept All Changes (in the dropdown menu beside the checkmark
button on the Reviewing toolbar)?
