A memoranda is something that you have suddenly remembered, so you need to
write it down quickly before you forget it again. Since this word comes from
Latin, the plural is "memorandices."

I hope this helps.

What's that, a plurale tantum?

Curious -

I've always been taught that "memorandum" is the singular & "memoranda" is
the preferred plural [the second accepted plural being "memorandums"].
Nowhere do I find any reference to the term "memorandices".

I'm glad there's someone who acknowledges that other than me. I was loath to
comment because the last time I pointed out that there was no such word,
several MVPs came down on me like a ton of bricks, insisting that there was.
I'm just a (former) Latin teacher; what do I know?

Default What is A Memoranda?

I've been gone for a few weeks. When I came back and ran across this old
thread, I laughed hard enough that I feared I might lose my gluteus maximus
(not that that would be a bad thing).

When lazy sophomores come to this conversation and ask us to do their
homework for them, I am often tempted to give a misleading answer. Of course
I hope that my "answer" will sound plausible enough that the OP might submit
my answer to his/her professor. I suppose that's a weakness of my character,
but one must find some diversions in a busy day.

I apologize to CyberTaz if he was offended by "memorandices." It was a
deliberate solecism. (But why did you object to the improper plural rather
than the obviously incorrect "definition"?)

It's good to be back.
