I have created a book in Word 2007. My page numbering is fine. However when
the document prints how do I make the page number appear on the left side of
the left and page?

You need to check the box (on the Header & Footer Tools | Design tab) for
"Different odd and even." This will give you a separate Odd Page
Header/Footer and Even Page Header/Footer, and you place the page number as
desired in each one.
