Default Master table of contents

I have several files for a set of standards that are selected based on the
project type. Each has a TOC. I want to make a Master TOC in a separate
file. How do I link the TOC entries?

If I understand correctly you'd just create a different master document for
each version, right? Because each standard may include some common files,
then some unique material, correct?

Could you use an RD field? See €śCreating a Table of Contents Spanning
