All my word documents are now locked as if they were protected/ read only. I
get the error message "This modification is not allowed because the document
is locked." Ive tried system restore and resetting word to default settings
but it doesnt do anything. Even with absolutely no word document open at all
all the tool and taskbar menus are locked and i cannot open or create a new
document.

You need to activate your Word version (Help Activate Product...) or, in
the case of a trial version, install the full version of Word.

I have tried to do this but nothing happens when i click "Activate product"
as for the trial version route i wouldnt know where to start as it just came
installed on my computer.
