Default Unable to open word file

Hi,
I have win2000 with MS office2000 professional. I cannot open any word file
directly by double clicking on it. It gives me error " The document name or
path invalid ...." when I click ok same message appeares second time. When I
click Ok again I get "Run-time error '438' object does not support property
or method" with two buttons "End" and Debug.

Where as same file can be opened from File - Open -select file.

I tried to recreate file association but failed.

Kindly help me in fixing this problem.

Regards
MD.

Try this, no guarantees, but it often helps

1. START/Run

2. Type: Winword.exe /r

3. Click OK

4. You should get a message that Word has been successfully re-registered

5. Now try opening the documents
