Default How to preserve original document date in opening word file

When I open a letter created using Word 2003 on an earlier date I would like
the date displayed to be the original creation date and NOT today's date. How
can I do this?

Right-click the date and choose Toggle Field Codes. You'll see something
like { DATE \@ "MMMM d, yyyy" }. Change DATE to CREATEDATE. Right-click
again and choose Update Field.

If you use a template to create letters like this, make the same change in
the template so future letters won't have to be altered. If you're just
using the Insert Date and Time dialog in a plain document, don't do
that -- instead, use the Insert Field dialog and choose the CreateDate
field.
