Distance bottom edge of the page to bottom edge footer - not accep
Friendly Greetings To The Community ,
All my settings in Word 2003 (re. page setup etc) are correct , however Word fights me to accept " the distance from the bottom edge of the paper to the bottom edge of the footer ". Bottom TEXT margin is set at 20 mm thus leaving me with 20 mm between the bottom of my last line and the bottom of the page ; within this margin of 20 mm I would like to set the distance from the bottom edge of the footer to the bottom edge of the page at 10 mm - thus I should have a margin of 10 mm between the bottom edge of the page and the bottom edge of my footer. This would give me a total footer height of about 10 mm as well , which is now proving to be troublesome to achieve - I use the same settings for the header without any problem whatsoever. The bottom edge of the footer is now flush with the bottom edge of the page and the total height of the footer is about 15 mm as well - not what I want. Again I must also repeat that my page settings and margins are absolutely correct. Thanking You In Advance For Your Response(s), Prince , Of The Coming Royal Realm |

Dear Suzanne ,
Thanks for your very prompt reply - I haven't progressed to the stage of printing a document with footer because I had noticed , as you correctly point out , on screen the footer pane is not represented as it should be (now using Word 2003 - whereas in earlier versions of Word this footer misrepresentation didn't occur) . Thus I had added text and indeed seen the top edge of the footer move up - simply didn't know that Word 2003 has this display design flaw - I was really focussed on the header and footer panes being represented the same , first on screen as I always work in print view modus . Thanks Again , Prince - Royal Realm "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: Is this what you are actually getting in print or just what you are seeing on the screen? The header and footer panes are represented differently in Word. I'm not defending this, just stating a fact: the footer pane (judging from the broken lines) does appear to extend to the bottom of the page, but you will find that if you add lines of text, it will grow upward, not down. This is just a display design flaw. -- Suzanne S. AFAIR, the footer has been displayed this way in all previous versions of
Word, but perhaps I'm remembering incorrectly. I'm sure someone who has an earlier version can tell us. -- Suzanne S.
