When Using Save As, editing the copy edits the original
Thanks for the tips, Charles.
It appears that through some unintended keystrokes, I set up a master document hierarchy. The 'm.doc' file gave it away. I was able to clean it up pretty quickly. -erich "Charles Kenyon" wrote: I don't know how to get Word to act the way you describe. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. In the document, I added a text box with some text in it. After saving the original, I did Save As... to save it under a new name. I then changed some of the text and shading of the 'new' document. However, when I reopened the original, the changes had also been applied to it. I now have 4 documents that, when one is edited, the other 3 receive the same edits. Do I have to create new documents each time and copy everything over, or is there a way to turn this off? -erich |
