Default Footnote symbol

Windows XP, Word 2000

I normally use a custom symbol when inserting a foortnote in a document. Is
there anyway to change the symbol used without deleting it and reinserting
the footnote with a new symbol?

highlight the footnote mark, go to insert / reference / footnote and look for
the 'custom mark'. IF you change it, it should replace the one previously
there...
