Default how can I use Word 2002 as the default editor for Outlook 2003?

I recently updated from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003. When I did so, I lost
my ability to use Word as my default editor (or in fact as my editor for any
messages). When I try to set Word as my editor, I am only given Word 2003 as
an option. Is there any way to link my new Outlook to my old version of
Word, or by buying Outlook 2003 am I now required to buy Word 2003, too?

You cannot. There are some real incompatibilities and loss of functionality
when Outlook 2003 alone is installed with earlier versions of office.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your prompt and informative response. Guess I'll be buying
Word 2003 soon...
