Default document will not lock

I have been e-mailed a document with macros in. I have been told to open it
as read only them lock it. I go to view, outline but the lock key is not
highlighted so I cannot lock it.

Hi John-

The Lock Document feature you refer to applies only to Master/SubDocument
docs & has nothing to do with Macro Security. Whoever told you what to do is
using inappropriate terminology at best. In fact, I don't believe opening any
file as "Read Only" prevents Macros from executing.

Just go to ToolsMacroSecurity (or ToolsOptions--Security & click the
Macro Security button) and make sure it is set to Medium or higher, which it
should be already. The Options are described right there.
