Hello-

Take a look at ToolsOptionsSpelling & Grammar, click the 'Custom
Dictionaries...' button & see if there is a Custom Dictionary listing with no
check mark. Either put a check in the box or create a new custom dictionary,
just make sure there is one checked, then OK out of both dialogs.

Word doesn't allow editing of the main dictionary file, so you must have at
least one custom dictionary active for it to add entries to.

There can also be a problem if the language of Custom.dic is different from
the language of the word in question. By default, however, Custom.dic is set
to "All languages." For another possibility, see €œYou receive an error
message when you add a word to the custom dictionary in Word 2003€

There was just one Dictionary, Custom Dictionary, and it was checked. I added
a second Dictionary, with new name, and the 'Add to Dictionary' Button is now
Back!! Thank you so much. This has been a problem for the last two months.
Too old I guess to understand all this, but really appreciate the input.
Thanks ...
