Word Closes Slowly
I have Windows XP(SP2) with Office 2002 and Norton AV Pro, and noticed that
Word documents (and the program) open and close slowly. It sometimes takes between 5-10 seconds for the program to close. Other times it takes a little less. Excel and PowerPoint open and close very quickly. Any ideas on why this happens and what I can do? I defragmented the drive but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I know that Norton scans documents before opening but this shouldn't affect closing them. Thanks |

Turn off Norton AV's Office plug-in. It does nothing useful and creates all
kinds of hangups in Word. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Mr. Blue Sky wrote: I have Windows XP(SP2) with Office 2002 and Norton AV Pro, and noticed that Word documents (and the program) open and close slowly. Thank you for your reply. I tried disabling the Norton AV Office Plug-in but
it didn't seem to help. Note: another account on the same computer has no problem (delay) in opening or closing Word. Could it be related to the normal.dot template? If so, how should I replace/rename/move it? If I delete it will Word create another .dot template? Thanks "Graham Mayor" wrote: Turn off Norton AV's Office plug-in.
