Hi, i am a new user of word 2007, have created a letterhead where the header
contains some graphics for the top of the letter and the footer is the
address, as long as I only type a two page letter the second page omits the
header OK but when I type the third page the first page header reinsert it
self.

How do I suppress the header on all the successive pages?

It sounds like that instead of having the header in a First Page header, you
have checked the "Different odd and even" box in the Headers and Footers
section of the Layout tab of the FilePage Setup dialog.

That would be why the header that you have on the first page is appearing on
the third page.

Select everything in the header, copy it to the clipboard, then in the
dialog referred to above, uncheck the "Different odd and even" box and
check the "Different first page" box. Then in the First Page header are
that appears, paste the data from the clipboard.

Thank you for getting back to me; maybe I was not clear enough, I am trying
to create this letterhead on a template that would make the first page show
both headers and footers and the following pages, as many as they may be to
show automatically only the footer.

Since i am new at this is their a step by step way of getting this done

Then you will need to set up the Header and Footer that you want to appear
on the first page in the First Page Header Pane and set up the Footer that
you want to appear on the other pages in the document in the Primary Header
Pane.

The way to do this is with the Different First Page box unchecked, set up
the Footer that you want to appear on the second and following pages. If
the Footer that you want on the First Page is the same as that, select all
of the information in that Footer and copy it to the Clipboard. Then in the
Page Setup dialog, check the Different First Page box, paste Footer
information into the Footer if that is applicable - if it is not, insert
what you want to appear in the Footer of the first page into the Footer pane
and then insert what you want to appear in the Header of the first page into
the Header Pane.

When you get down to the dialogs behind the Ribbon, none of this is any
different to previous versions of Word.

I have a letter that I am trying to print. The first page needs to print on
letterhead but then the remaining 3 pages need to print on regular paper as
they have the header with the logo and the footer has the company contact
information and a form number. The form numbers are different on page 2 and
page 3 and 4 are the same. When I try to print these, the first 3 pages are
printing on letterhead and the 4th page is printing on plain paper. Is there
something with the header/footer or the section breaks that will not let me
print these correctly?

The fact that you have different form numbers on pages 3 and 4 from page 2
suggests that you probably have a section break between pages 2 and 3. You
can select paper trays for the first page and "other pages" in each section,
and it sounds as if this is just set up wrong. You need to have Section 1
set to use letterhead for the first page and plain paper for the rest, and
Section 2 set to use plain paper for both. Find these settings on the Paper
tab of File | Page Setup.
