Default lost auto correct info

I've just lost the last year's worth of my Auto correct settings. I still
have the ones that I created a year ago or more. Any way to get them back?
Anyone know what happened?

Earlier, to correct another issue, I had renamed normal.dot to normal.old.
This is what got rid of my auto correct, because when I reversed it, restored
..old to .dot, they came back.

Renaming Normal.dot should have no effect at all on most AutoCorrect
entries, but it will certainly cause loss of AutoText entries and
*formatted* AutoCorrect entries.
