list of tables missing
Hi
I am trying to create a list of tables in the TOC but the marked tables are not coming through. I have labelled all the tables in the text using "insert caption". I have also updated the entire TOC, but the tables are not coming through. I have managed to create a list of figures though. Also, a few of my tables are not showing in the cross reference box, despite them being defined (I have inserted new captions to be sure and this does not help). Weird. Any ideas? Thanks |

Note that if you select a floating object (that is, an object whose Text
Wrapping is *not* "In line with text") and add a caption, Word places the caption inside a text box, and captions in text boxes cannot be "seen" for the purpose of cross-reference and table of figures creation in versions prior to Word 2007. What you should do is place the object(s) "In line with text" and then wrap a frame around the object and its caption; that way, you can position the object and its caption. (There is an Insert Frame command on the Forms toolbar. Of course, you can add the command to any toolbar.) -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Robin" wrote in message ... list of tables missing
Thanks Stefan! I had a look at the "in line with text" and the format of the
picture was correct. The strange thing was that the tables that were missing were part of one of the sections in the document so I cut out this section out and redid it from scratch. When I did this, the missing table references became visible in the cross reference list. However, the tables are still not coming through in the TOC, but I cannot spend any more time on trying to correct this, so will just have to move on swiftly. Thanks for you help. Maybe some of the problematic captions are/were inside a drawing canvas?
