Enable ability to permanently turn off annoying drawing canvas.
Everytime I insert a text box into a word document, a huge "drawing canvas"
automatically opens on my document. I always go into "tools", "options" and then select the "general" tab where I uncheck the box that says, "Automatically insert drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes". And then, of course, I click "OK". Yet that box continues to default to the checked box, so I have to repeat the process everytime I want to use a text box. There should be a way to permanently uncheck that box and have it stay off until someone chooses to turn it back on. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Enable ability to permanently turn off annoying drawing canvas.
For most of us, disabling the drawing canvas *is* permanent. If your Word
settings are not being saved, it may be that the Word Data key in the Registry is damaged; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions on rebuilding it. Alternatively, you may have an add-in loading after Word that is changing the setting. -- Suzanne S.
