Default How do I keep two words together?

In WordPerfect I could insert a "hard" space or a "hard" hyphen between
words or numbers I wanted to keep on the same line. i.e. April 14, 2005 with
"hard" spaces would stay on the same line rather than the day or year going
to the next line. Is there a command I can use to do this in Word?
